The problem with loving books is that you forget this is real life. And people are real. Complex. People aren’t characters in a story book. They surprise you. They hurt you. And you can’t control it if they leave you one day. You can’t choose to close the book before the sad chapter comes. You can’t choose to revisit an old chapter that you love so much. People don’t stay within the pages, they don’t obey words. They move about as they wish and you might return to a chapter that is now blank. This life is far different from any book that’s out there because even though it feels as if it's yours to write, you can’t choose the fate of your characters and relationships. Lesson 1: Stop expecting people to behave the way you want them to.
Lesson 2: You can brainstorm all you want about the most beautiful story, but it will never be written. And even if it is, it might not stay inked on your page. Lesson 3: Memories of what you've read will one day fade. You forget what you've read and so you come up with a whole new story. It keeps the memory beautiful, but it drifts further and further away from the truth.
