expire

Many things expire.
Our bodies, relationships, the Earth.
Even stars burn out and become black holes.
But the soul, the soul is eternal.

We can clothe our bodies,
dress it up,
feed it well,
have it stand out and shine.
We can kill for currency to beautify.
We can torment our minds to hate our bodies.
We can hate ourselves.
But in the end it's just clothes.
In the end, it's just our bodies.
Just flesh that will one day expire.

See these jaded faces,
all tired and hurt from relationships.
Emotional burdens
marked by scars on our arms.
Hurt by not receiving what we expect.
Hurt by our own perception of what is fair and unfair.
Hurt by giving and not receiving.
Giving what?
Love is not a transaction.
You don't give something to get something in return.
You don't put a label on your amount of love,
sell it,
and expect to receive something amounting to the same price.
But love is often absent from relationships today.
Relationships run on transactions.
I do this, you do this back.
If not, our relationship fails.
And our relationships, forged by material,
by our own labels and perceptions,
will never matter when material is gone.
Relationships, forged by eternal love and eternal matters,
will remain forever.

The Earth, we know is dying.
That's pretty self-explanatory.
They say we are killing the Earth.
But seeing how we grew, how our minds changed,
how our lifestyles shifted,
the Earth stood no chance.
It had an expiration date from the start.

But the soul, the soul is eternal.
We are not our bodies,
our bodies carry us.
We are our souls.
Do you believe you have a soul?
Do explain how particles can form a soul.
How chemicals can form more than just a conscience.
How atoms can form our thoughts and ideas.
Where is science when your body returns to the earth?
Our bodies can disappear into the earth because it is made of material.
But our soul, never consisting of a particle, cannot disappear.
Our souls never die, because our souls never lived.
They just are.
They exist.
Is that not enough?

So why do we feed the body more than the soul.
Why do we build relationships on things that don't last.
Why do we harm and protect what is destined to die.

Our soul, our soul is eternal.
Perhaps we need to reconsider what we care about.
