The nicest things are subtle. We shield our eyes from the sun's rays, yet we can spend hours staring into the night sky. We never notice the stars until we watch the dark sky long enough. At first we see two or three stars, but in time, when we focus long enough that everything else seems darker and darker, the many stars reveal themselves, glowing brighter and brighter. Like in conversation. It is never the loud proclamations of "I love you"s that warm us up. What warms our hearts are the words that casually fall out. When somebody brings up something we talked about a long time ago, or when they notice something we don't even realise we're doing. Sometimes when we meet up with people and chat over coffee, we don't even realise where the conversations are headed. Words flow endlessly as conversations form bridges to different topics. Then little things like a phrase or a word or a thought comes up like the two or three stars in the sky. Then everything else seems less important, and suddenly your conversation is filled with stars. And you see that person in a different light. And it warms your heart so. I imagine that's how you fall in love with anyone or anything at all. It never hits you like a comet - even that takes forever to reach you but when it does, it looks like it comes out form no where. No, it always starts as small specks of stars in a dark sky. And it grows and it grows until you cannot see otherwise.
