seek first the kingdom of God

My heart and my soul, I give You control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise, become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Is God enough for you? Yes, He heals, He provides, He comforts, He restores, He does amazing works and He can do amazing things in your life. But when healing doesn't come right away, when you still worry about making it through the day, when you're hurting and you can't help but feel all the pain, when you are too jaded to utter a single prayer, is God enough for you? Perhaps we have grown too self-absorbed. What does this do for me? How does this benefit me? What good will it do for me? When our life becomes all about making life a little better, it is so easy to lose track of who we are and what we do. Do we keep the friends who benefit us only? Do we hang out with people who make us only happy? Do we treat God like a friend we utilise only in times of need? What does it mean to be human? To be a friend, to be a daughter, to be a child of God? If truly we call ourselves Christians, then we should reflect Christ, shouldn't we? Instead of priding ourselves in our beliefs and our actions, we should be serving others in humility, shouldn't we? If we truly have experienced God, His love should overflow through us, shouldn't it?

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matt 6.

When we grow a little too self-absorbed, worrying about our own comforts and storing more than enough just in case, is it because we have failed to trust God? We always like a little cushion, a little bit more than what we need because what if? Planning ahead and for rainy weather isn't bad, but when all we do is chase the excess we forget that we already have more than we need, and what we need, we no longer have. We need to spend time with God, to rest in Him. This is why so many times we are exhausted no matter how much sleep we get. We never actually feel the peace, we never actually rest. We are always three steps ahead of something that we have no control over, only to meet with a roadblock and God saying, hey, why don't you trust me?

Let go, and let God be God.
Not just a pocket for you to keep your hands warm and for you to take things from.
He is bigger than that. Find out on your own.
Seek Him, and you will find Him.
